Plant Protection Quarterly began life as the journal Australian Weeds published by the Council of Australian Weed Science Societies from 1981 to 1984. It then became Plant Protection Quarterly and was published by Inkata Press from 1985 till 1988. From 1989 till 2011 it was published by RG and FJ Richardson. Polymeria Publishing produced the journal from 2012 till 2016 when publishing ceased.
