Ali Bajwa

Ali Bajwa is a Senior Academic at La Trobe University in Melbourne where he is engaged in weed science and agronomy teaching, research, outreach and service. He obtained his PhD in Weed Science/Invasion Ecology from the University of Queensland followed by a 4 year Senior Scientist role with the NSW government. Ali is originally from Pakistan where he completed his Bachelors and Masters degrees in Agriculture. His research focuses on weed ecology, climate change interactions and integrated weed management. The overarching goal of his research program is to improve our understanding of weed biology and evolution to be able to develop sustainable management strategies. A strong focus of his current work is on weed evolution and management under a changing climate. He has published over 60 highly cited scientific papers, presented at several national and international conferences and received many awards and distinctions. He is a current member of the Weed Society of Victoria and has been a member of NSW and Queensland weed societies over the past 8 years. Ali is also serving the weed community as an associate editor of a few journals and as executive committee member of the Victorian Serrated Tussock Working Party.
